The Stephen Foster Story will open on June 12 and continue the company’s long history of celebrating the music of Stephen Collins Foster. Once again, the historical drama will feature live musical accompaniment. The season continues with a five-show run of Floyd Collins. This musical is a charming story of hope and dreams that takes place “deep in the land of the hollers and creeks” of central Kentucky. The story is full of Appalachian and Bluegrass inspired music and is based on actual events of the media frenzy that occurred in 1925 when a Kentucky cave explorer became trapped underground. The critically acclaimed musical was written by Adam Guettel, grandson of Richard Rogers (of Rogers and Hammerstein). The show opens June 24.
